Student
Learners are given up to three semesters of time to complete the coursework from the time they first enroll.
Example: If a learner enrolls in Fall 2023, they have until the end of Fall 2024 to complete the course (Fall 2023 -> Spring 2024 -> Fall 2024).
While every learner is unique, a certificate course takes an average of 10 hours of work to complete. A credit course takes an average of 30 hours of work to complete.
Learners must enroll in and complete the Foundations of Leadership FOL102 credit course after they successfully complete the Steps to Induction in FOL101.
Each institution is unique in their own decision-making about transfer credits. Learners should refer to their school’s policy by visiting the “credit transfer” section of the student handbook or registrar’s page on the school website. We also suggest that learners share the course syllabus with the Registrar to see how to get the credit added to their transcript.
Most NSLS members find that completion of these courses is equally valuable for its portfolio development and resume-building opportunities. The educational objectives of these credit courses help learners to showcase their leadership skills in new ways.
Our team is happy to answer any questions. Email education@nsls.org to start the conversation.
*Every college handles transfer credits differently. Please check with your advisor to see how many program credits would transfer for your institution.
