The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is a legitimate, accredited leadership organization. We are fully committed to our members’ success and we’re completely transparent about our approach, credibility, and accreditation as a leadership honor society.
The NSLS does this by partnering with colleges and universities across the US to build local leadership communities on their campuses while providing access to accredited courses to help students develop the skills needed for success now and in the future.
With over 750 chapters and over 1.8 million members in the United States alone, the NSLS is the largest legitimate—and only accredited—leadership honor society in the nation.
The NSLS is both an accredited education organization and a for-profit organization. The review process for these legitimate classifications is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Internal Revenue Service, and the national board of MctaB-Corps. These classifications are more rigorous to achieve than gaining accreditation from the Association of College Honor Societies.
In addition, we’ve successfully achieved many legitimate accreditation and certification processes. At the NSLS, we:
The NSLS leadership programming is delivered through a high-quality, thorough curriculum. Our program builds upon itself and requires the completion of culminating projects or activities that reinforce key lessons.
We offer leadership education that inspires our members to think critically, develop a core purpose, build resiliency, and collaborate with empathy. We nurture a diverse community of leaders by providing hands-on experiences, skill-building activities, and time for self-reflection.
The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is nationally recognized as a legitimate, credible, and prestigious organization. Employers are aware of the value our programming offers, and some actively seek to hire NSLS members. Many of our members stand out from the competition and reap the benefits of our reputation by proudly noting their membership on their portfolios, official transcripts, and professional online job profiles.
In addition, we have built strong, lasting relationships with highly successful individuals and global thought leaders. These partnerships not only speak to our credibility but also enable us to provide valuable and legitimate learning opportunities to our members.
We are an organization with the mission to inspire positive change in our communities and the world by helping members realize their potential. Through our exclusive member benefits, we have helped millions grow both personally and professionally. These benefits include:
Have you been nominated for an NSLS membership?
No. The NSLS is not a scam. The NSLS is a legitimate, accredited, and esteemed leadership honor society that is nationally recognized, with over 750 chapters and more than 1.8 million members at universities nationwide.
Yes, the NSLS is a real, legitimate honor society. As a leadership honor society, our program and curriculum are focused specifically on leadership skill development and career preparation.
As a member, you have access to a wide range of training resources, networking events, and learning opportunities designed to develop your leadership skills. In order to become a fully-inducted member, students must complete the Steps to Induction.
Members usually spend less than 10 hours total at their own pace as they work toward completing the Steps to Induction. You can choose your level of involvement in the program. To get the most out of your experience, you’ll want to be as involved as possible.
Members must meet certain nomination criteria that are specified by local chapter leaders (usually based on GPA and/or leadership potential). Once you have paid your one-time registration fee, you’re considered a pre-inducted member. In order to become an inducted member, you must complete the Steps to Induction listed in the previous question.
Students who wish to join but haven’t been nominated can still apply for membership online.
Throughout your college career, you may be invited to a number of different honor societies. Sadly, in some situations, scammers may pose as fraudulent honor societies to take advantage of college students. It’s important to know how to distinguish between a scam and an honor society that will provide value to you.
Look for the below criteria when determining whether or not an honor society is legitimate:
Student success stories. A legitimate honor society will have testimonials and member success stories readily available. These stories should tell you how the organization helped members prepare for—and succeed— in their endeavors and the value it brought to their college experience.
Reports of the NSLS being a scam are largely due to the fact that there are very real honor society scammers out there who take advantage of college students. The NSLS isn’t one of them. The NSLS partners with schools to bring leadership development to their campuses.
You can search through our chapter database to see more about the chapter you were invited to and our history with your school. So far, the NSLS has helped over 1.8 million members at more than 750 schools achieve success.
The fee to join the NSLS helps us continually develop our curriculum and deliver new and engaging content to our members. Without a fee, we wouldn’t be able to reach as many future leaders as we do. To that end, we know that not everyone can afford the fee and have provided options to assist members who may be experiencing financial difficulties.
The NSLS works with your university to develop the criteria needed to be invited to join your local chapter. While the NSLS helps guide the selection process, it ultimately comes down to who your school thinks will benefit the most from our programming. These criteria are usually based on GPA or leadership potential. As a legitimate honor society, we value providing leadership programming to anyone who wishes to become a leader and take the reins of their success. Students can also self-nominate themselves to join if they want to become a member but didn’t get invited.
Sigma Alpha Pi (ΣAπ) are the Greek letters that the NSLS uses to represent itself. We are not affiliated with campus Greek life. These letters stand for Success, Action, and Purpose, which are the guiding principles of the NSLS.
