Kenny Glick is a day-trading tutor who can drop a steady stream of knowledge while simultaneously making his students laugh.
In this episode of Motivational Mondays, Kenny shares how he went from a career as a stand-up comedian to successful day trader. We explore the world of trading and tackle financial literacy from a different perspective in this episode.
Kenny finished a stand-up gig in Brooklyn when someone came up to him in a fancy suit and said, “I heard your routine. You sound like you’re broke, living in your mom’s basement.” Then, they invited him to Long Island to put his sense of humor to work selling stocks.
When Kenny walked in, someone handed him a script and said, “Read this. If somebody wants to buy something, scream out and someone will take over the call.” He enjoyed getting to know his clients, but things felt shady and he didn’t like being caught in the middle. Once he realized that, he quit. Within months, he joined a friend at his firm and began day trading.
Day trading allows normal people to trade alongside bigger institutions that move the market. It allows you to take control of your finances. But Kenny doesn’t believe it’s as risky as most people think it is. He notes that if you want to give trading a shot with $500, it’s going to be difficult. If you don’t know what you’re doing, small accounts get wiped out quickly.
Kenny teaches a style of trading that can be utilized with a minimal amount of money. But you do need a cushion. If you can make $250 a day by sitting in your house, which averages to be around $60,000 a year, why not consider it as a viable career option?
When the market is going up, everyone’s a genius. When the market comes back to reality, that’s a day trader’s time to shine. Kenny emphasizes that it’s easier to make money when the market is trending downward. Why? Because things happen quickly and aggressively.
When you know what you’re doing, you can make money. But you have to take the skills you’ve learned and use them carefully. So where should you start? Learn to trade before you put any money in the market. Kenny shares how you can do that in this episode of Motivational Mondays.
Listen to the bonus episode to learn how Kenny’s bold and honest teaching style serves his students well and why day trading is not a get-rich-quick opportunity.
